In today's fast-paced digital environment, ensuring smooth and efficient virtual meetings is paramount for business success. Microsoft Teams admin center allows IT admins to monitor meeting quality, identify and resolve issues in real-time. However, the current troubleshooting workflow requires manual intervention, making it difficult for admins to proactively address network quality issues.

To streamline this process and help admins monitor multiple meetings simultaneously, Microsoft introduces Monitoring Notifications for In-Progress Meetings. This feature allows admins to receive proactive notifications about meeting quality issues, saving time and improving the overall user experience. In this blog post, we'll discuss how to enable this feature and configure it to suit your organization's needs.

What's New: Monitoring Notifications for In-Progress Meetings

With Monitoring Notifications, admins can monitor audio, video, and app-sharing experiences in real-time. This feature is designed to help admins scale their monitoring capabilities and proactively address any issues that arise during meetings.

The rollout for this feature will begin in mid-April for Preview users, with the Standard release tentatively scheduled for the end of June 2023.

Impact on Your Organization

There's no direct impact on your organization, as admins need to voluntarily enable this feature for their tenant.

How to Enable Monitoring Notifications in Teams Admin Center (TAC)

To enable Monitoring Notifications for meeting quality using Real-time telemetry, follow these steps:

    1. Decide which users' in-progress meeting audio quality you want to monitor.
    2. Configure the 'Audio quality for in-progress meeting' notification rule in Teams admin center:

Once configured, all upcoming meetings of specified users will be monitored for quality issues based on the configured conditions and settings. Notifications will be generated and delivered to the designated team/channel if any violations occur.

Product Limitations and Disclaimer

It's essential to note that Monitoring Notifications are based on Real-time telemetry, and any limitations with the telemetry data will also apply to these notifications. Additionally, a maximum of 500 users can be monitored per rule.

This feature is currently in limited preview, and the licensing terms are subject to change before general availability (GA).

Conclusion

Monitoring Notifications for In-Progress Meetings offers a proactive approach to identifying and resolving meeting quality issues in real-time. By enabling this feature, admins can improve the virtual meeting experience for their users and maintain a high level of collaboration across the organization. Make sure to take advantage of this powerful tool to enhance your Microsoft Teams experience.
